What Are Digital Dental X-rays?

Digital dental x-rays (or dental radiographs) are done as part of a dental examination to get a better view of your teeth and gums. X-rays make it easier for us to diagnose issues that aren't visible by the naked eye and to learn about the health of your teeth, gums, and jaw. There are many dental and oral conditions that can be seen on digital dental x-rays, including tooth decay, cavities, abscesses, cysts, impactions, and bone loss. If these problems are identified early, you may be able to get more effective and less invasive treatment options. As part of your dental examination at The Dentist of Allen in Allen, TX, x-rays can help us more accurately diagnose and correct oral health problems.

What Should I Expect During Digital Dental X-rays?

Typically performed at the start of your appointment, digital dental x-rays take 5 – 10 minutes to complete. Most patients will undergo a full set of x-rays to see all areas of their mouth. They will then be uploaded and viewed by you and a member of our team during your exam so we can show you any abnormalities and discuss possible treatments. A series of x-rays are usually taken during your annual dental exam. A full-mouth set may be obtained during certain visits to get a comprehensive view of your teeth, gums, and jaw. Your x-rays will be stored with your oral health file at The Dentist of Allen so we can watch for changes over time and address any growing concerns.

This dentist is the best! I’ve been coming here for years. Super cool building, Dr. Kelker takes great care of me. My dental assistant Cynthia is super sweet and Clariza at the front is too, love those girls! They also always have nice deals and promos!
